Let’s talk about ChatGPT again today — specifically, Custom GPTs.
When I first started hearing about Custom GPTs, I wasn’t sure if it was something I actually needed to dive into. I mean, ChatGPT was already helping me brainstorm ideas, draft content, and save time on a few key things in my business … so, did I really need to figure out another layer of AI?
It felt a little overwhelming. A little too techy. And honestly, it just felt like one of those “cool new shiny tools” that everyone was raving about but that might end up being more work than it was worth.
But recently, I’ve started playing around with GPTs a bit more, and I’m really loving it.
If you know me at all, you know I could geek out about ChatGPT for hours, so naturally, when I finally started to see the power of Custom GPTs I couldn’t help but dive head first down the rabbit hole. And in doing so, I feel like I’m eating my old words a bit.
Custom GPTs aren’t just another shiny object. When you approach them strategically, they can actually be another powerful tool (and a great way to supercharge ChatGPT even further!). Not only to save time, but to serve your audience better. To create new revenue streams. And to take the stuff that’s swirling around in your head and turn it into something scalable.
Over the past few weeks, I’ve built Custom GPTs for both sides of my business. I’ve created GPTs that pair with my products and digital resources—so my clients can get even more hands-on help applying what they’re learning. And I’ve created internal GPTs that help me streamline my own business operations—things like repurposing content, planning projects, drafting SOPs, and mapping out launch plans.
And while I’ve been in my rabbit hole of GPT creation, I’ve also had more conversations than I can count with fellow business owners who are curious about how they could be using Custom GPTs themselves. So today, I want to share a few things I’ve learned, and give you some ideas for how you can start using Custom GPTs strategically — both as a revenue-generating tool, and as a major time-saver inside your business.
Because here’s the truth: Custom GPTs aren’t just a cool AI toy. They can become a seriously valuable asset inside your business.

Two Powerful Ways to Use Custom GPTs in Your Business
1. As a Revenue-Generating Tool
Custom GPTs open up an entirely new set of opportunities to monetize your expertise. You can actually turn these GPTs into digital products you sell, assets you bundle into your existing offers, or high-value bonuses that help increase client results. And this can take on so many different forms depending on your business model and your audience needs:
- Bundle a Custom GPT with an existing course or membership to give customers extra hands-on support and help them apply what they’re learning right away.
- Build a stand-alone GPT product that solves a specific problem for your audience (like a launch planning GPT, audience research GPT, or messaging refinement GPT).
- Add GPTs into your 1:1 or group coaching programs as self-serve tools clients can use between sessions.
- Offer GPTs as a bonus or upsell for digital products or templates you already sell, making your offers even more actionable.
- Create a full GPT library or bundle that showcases your unique frameworks and methods for ongoing client support.
- Provide GPTs as post-program resources clients can continue using long after your work together.
- Use GPTs to offer extended support after VIP Days or intensives, helping clients stay organized and accountable.
In fact, I’m in the process of doing a few of these myself. I’m creating GPTs that pair with my Audience Cheat Sheet, my ChatGPT Mastering Marketing Copy guide, and my Ideas to Action Planning Bundle. These GPTs will help my clients apply the strategies I teach more efficiently, walk them through my frameworks, and provide them with ongoing support even when I’m not in the room with them. And on top of that, they increase the overall value of my offers because I’m giving clients additional tools to help them take action quickly.
The beautiful thing is: once you build a well-trained GPT, it becomes a scalable resource that can serve dozens (or hundreds) of clients without additional fulfillment on your part. It allows you to productize your expertise in a way that still feels high-touch and supportive—without requiring more of your personal time.
2. As a Time-Saving Tool Inside Your Business
Even if you never plan to sell a Custom GPT, you can still create them to save yourself hours of time every week. The real magic of internal GPTs is how they help you reduce decision fatigue, streamline repeatable tasks, and take tedious work off your plate so you can stay focused on the higher-level strategy and client work you actually enjoy. Here are some ways I’ve used GPTs internally:
- Content repurposing assistants that take long-form content and break it into multiple social posts, email snippets, and blog outlines.
- SOP builders that draft starting templates for repeatable internal or client processes.
- Weekly and monthly content calendar planners that help organize campaigns, key dates, and themes in advance.
- Launch timeline drafters that automatically map out tasks and deadlines for upcoming offers or promotions.
- Internal project planning tools that create organized action plans for client projects, marketing initiatives, or business operations.
- Idea sorting GPTs that help me take messy brainstorm notes and start categorizing them into potential offers or content.
- Onboarding assistants that help prep new contractors or team members with clear expectations, systems, and processes.
- Meeting prep GPTs that generate agendas, talking points, and follow-up notes for client calls or internal team check-ins.
Think of it this way: these GPTs don’t have to replace your team — they simply serve as an added layer of support behind the scenes, doing some of the heavy lifting you (or your team) have previously been doing manually. So, if you find yourself repeating the same tasks or answering the same questions over and over, there’s a very good
Even a few small internal GPTs can save you hours every month. And as your business grows, they allow you to systematize your expertise so your team can run more efficiently, your clients get faster turnaround, and you stay out of the weeds.
How to Decide Which GPTs to Create
Ok, if you’re still reading but you’re finding yourself thinking, “Koree, how on earth do I know what GPTs I should create?!” — you’re definitely not alone. This is one of the most common questions I hear when people start exploring this.
The good news? You don’t have to guess. You just need to start looking at your business with fresh eyes. Here are some simple questions to help you uncover your best GPT opportunities:
- Where am I repeating myself constantly?
- What are my clients always asking for help with?
- What systems or frameworks do I already use in my work?
- Where do I get stuck or bogged down in details?
- What part of my process could I make more self-serve?
Sometimes it helps to think about your business in layers. Start by looking at your client-facing work: What parts of your client journey feel the most repetitive? Where do you find yourself explaining the same concepts, steps, or frameworks again and again? Those could easily be turned into self-serve GPTs your clients can use to move forward without waiting for your next meeting.
Next, zoom out and look at your internal business operations: Where are you constantly reinventing the wheel? Drafting the same emails? Creating similar project plans? Writing the same onboarding docs? Internal GPTs can support you and your team by turning those repetitive tasks into streamlined, semi-automated systems.
And finally, pay attention to your “post-it notes and voice memo moments” — those quick insights, ideas, or frameworks you jot down but don’t always build into your offers. Many of those could easily become the starting point for a focused GPT that supports your audience or your business.
Quick Tip: The beauty of Custom GPTs is that they can be incredibly specific. You don’t have to create some massive all-in-one bot. Start small and focused. One narrow GPT that solves one specific problem can have a huge impact.
The Basics of Creating a Custom GPT
Alright, so if you’re starting to lean into this idea and your chest isn’t feeling quite as tight anymore, that’s great. And I’ve got some good news for you — creating a Custom GPT isn’t as overwhelming as you might think. It’s not nearly as complicated as it might feel in your head right now. Once you see how the pieces fit together, it actually becomes a really fun (and kind of addictive) creative process.
Here’s a simple overview to help you get started:
- Open the GPTs panel inside ChatGPT and choose the option to create a Custom GPT.
- You’ll be guided by the GPT Creator prompt—it will ask you to describe what you want your GPT to do. Start here and provide as much clear, detailed information as you can. (You can always go back and fine-tune it later, but give it plenty of context right from the start.)
- Upload any reference files that support your GPT’s knowledge—things like brand strategy, messaging docs, audience profiles, frameworks, or training resources. This is where all the foundational work you’ve already done can make your GPT even stronger.
- Keep it focused. Don’t try to make one GPT do too many things.
- Test and refine. Play with different scenarios, ask it various types of questions, and keep adjusting until it behaves the way you want.
- Decide how you want to publish it. If it’s something you’ll only use internally, keep it private. If you want to share it with your team (or sell it), you can generate a shareable link inside the GPT panel that allows others to access your Custom GPT directly.
The key is to start simple, experiment, and keep refining as you go. Like any good system in your business, your GPTs can (and should) evolve as you learn what works best.

Want a few more tips to get the most out of the new Custom GPTs you create?
- Feed it your strategy. Custom GPTs work best when you give them strong foundational inputs — brand strategy, audience insights, messaging frameworks.
- Name it clearly. Make the name approachable, descriptive, and easy to understand.
- Test, test, and test again. Especially if you’re selling GPTs, you need to know how they behave in real-world usage.
- Don’t try to do too much at once. Focused GPTs almost always perform better than all-in-one bots.
- Build in version control. As you learn, you can improve and update your GPTs over time.
The Bottom Line
Here’s the thing: You don’t have to be an AI expert to start using Custom GPTs strategically. You just need clarity on your business, your audience, and your offers. Once you’ve got that foundation in place, GPTs can become an incredibly powerful tool to help you serve your people better, streamline your work, and take some of that mental load off your plate.
